On a hill in central Tungelsta, Haninge municipality, Urban Couture was asked to develop a proposal for townhouses in close contact with nature. The plot is a stone's throw from the commuter train station and can be reached via Hammarbergsvägen. A new access via the neighboring plot offers a connecting to the street. A development on the site fits within the ongoing development in the area, both north and south of the station. The immediate surrounding offers good facilities in the form of grocery stores, schools, a sports field and a sports hall.

Our proposal includes 18 townhouses in two to three stories, that are adapted to the topography in order to integrate the buildings with nature in the best possible way. By linking the trapezoidal townhouses together, two curving building volumes are created that follow the height curves of the hill. In the middle, at the top of the hill, a natural, intimate and shared courtyard is created free from car traffic.

Two housing types have been developed, based on a system of prefabricated timber elements. The townhouses have a flexible layout giving residents the opportunity to adapt their homes to specific wishes. The goal is to create a high quality residential area that can support the needs of a diversity of household types.
