Located at the corner of Odengatan and Valhallavägen, opposite Lärkstaden, the project introduces three new apartments within the building's attic structure. While one is organised entirely on a single attic level, two extend into the floor below, creating duplex apartments. Each apartment has its own entrance from an external access gallery, which becomes an integral part of the new residential arrangement.

The existing building, dating from 1891–92, has undergone several transformations throughout its history. It has served as a church, a maternity hospital and, at one point, as a base for the controversial Swedish intelligence organisation IB. The building's layered history is reflected in its architecture and provides an important context for the new intervention.

The irregular roofscape, multiple roof pitches, changes in level and distinctive corner tower create a highly complex framework for the conversion. Rather than imposing a new, independent geometry, the design works within these existing conditions, allowing the complexity of the roof to become a defining quality of the apartments.

The interiors are organised around this geometry, creating a sequence of spaces with different ceiling heights, framed views and carefully positioned openings. Skylights and large glazed surfaces bring natural light deep into the apartments, while terraces and openings towards the city provide stunning views over Stockholm. The relationship between interior and exterior becomes particularly important at this level, where the roof itself forms part of the living environment.

Externally, the intervention is deliberately restrained. New bay windows, roof openings and additions are integrated into the existing architecture so that the transformation remains almost imperceptible from street level. The proportions, character and presence of the historic building are maintained, while the interior is transformed into contemporary, light-filled homes.

The distinctive corner tower is retained as a central architectural element and becomes part of the dialogue between the existing and the new. Rather than treating the addition as a separate object, the project works as a continuation of the building's architectural history, adding a new layer while respecting those that came before.

The project is therefore less about adding a new layer than revealing the potential already contained within the existing one.
