The New City Hall is part of a larger development plan for the city centre of Zeist, a town in the centre of Holland close to Utrecht.

The City Hall is captured in a straightforward, long volume of three levels and is placed sensitively between the old Town House and the existing City Office buildings. To optimize the logistics new connections are made and parts of the office building are demolished. The City Hall becomes the new meeting point and forms the physical link between the main street and the neighbouring park.

The form, proportions and position of the new volume create interesting public spaces like courtyards, alleys, gardens and other microclimates between old and new. These spaces are reflected in the interior. In front of the building a new square forms the pedestal for the old Town House and becomes the new meeting point in the city. The square contains all entrances to the different parts of the complex. Square and building form a harmonic unity.
